The Law of Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy – Work hard but work smart too. Nothing should be harder than it needs to be.
Have you ever noticed that just about anything new you learn becomes easier as you do it more? This holds true in most situations.
I call this The Law of Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy. Do something more and it becomes easier.
Finding Your Domain and and The Law of Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy
Finding the right domain can be a pain in the ass! I’ve sat in front of the NameCheap search bar, banging out ideas for hours on end before finding the one I want. Click on the NameCheap link above and then click on “Domains” up top and then just select “Domain Name Search.”
Most one and two word domains are not going to be available with a dotcom. UNLESS! You use a sneaky trick a lot of today’s companies use. Which is marrying two words together that really don’t seem to go together at first glance. Think FaceBook, SnapChat, WordPress, YouTube, GasMonkey, etc. Using a color and an animal seems to be a fairly common theme. PurpleCow, BlueIguana, RedParrot and RedRobin come to mind. There are tons of others as well. Personally, I’m a big fan of a domain that actually exemplifies what you do. For example, Advance Dynamix pretty much sums up what we do here. We help you and others improve their lives. You know, advance and the dynamix of advancing. Telling people what you do with your business name is a novel concept. LOL
There are also tons of free tools out there available to help figure it out. https://leandomainsearch.com/ is a good one.
Make a new word that is comprised of your important root word. http://www.bustaname.com/word_maker is a great tool to help you with that. Ubersuggest is a great example of this concept.
If money is no object, buying a domain from someone else can be a quick solve. Unfortunately, money is usually very much an issue when we are first starting out.
Be very careful not to use the word “the” just so you can get a great domain. AdvanceDynamix is trademarked to me. If someone were to register www.AdvanceDynamix.win, this would totally infringe upon my core domain. They didn’t do anything to make it different. Don’t do that. You could end up getting yourself in a pot of hot water you don’t need to be in. Don’t take my word for it though. I’m not an attorney and this isn’t legal advice. Check with your attorney for the legal advice you need on this topic.
Creating Content and The Law of Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy
When I was working on my Master’s, it seemed like there was something magical about writing eleven page papers. Why not ten pages? Why not fifteen or twenty pages? I have absolutely no idea! But what I do know is I wrote a shitload of eleven page papers during that time. Writing that first one seemed like it took for freaking ever! I worked on it for days. I was actually concerned I wasn’t going to get it finished before it was due.
My Master’s program was two years long. It made its way all the way around the calendar. No more summers off for yours truly! By the end of that two year period of my life, I could knock out that mystical eleven page paper in a matter of hours. Time, practice and repetition made the entire process faster and easier.
Today, when I write a blog post, it is one hell of a lot faster and easier than writing was when I first started that damn Master’s program. And, it has actually become faster and easier since I wrote my first blog post for Advance Dynamix too.
It’s a heck of a lot easier to write about a topic you have a very strong interest in. Advance Dynamix encompasses all things associated with helping you move forward in life and compounding your successes. The four cornerstones of Advance Dynamix are Mindset, Motivation, Marketing and Making Money. I absolutely love all of these topics. They all four come together quite nicely. And, I love teaching on these topics and helping you and others improve your lives. It’s a win/win for you and me. And, you know how I love win/wins!
Website Design and The Law of Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy
Website design has become much easier with WordPress. Fifteen-twenty years ago it was a real pain in the neck to create a site. Especially a site that looked halfway decent. I’m glad that ship has sailed.
Just because it is easier today to create a website than it used to be, that doesn’t mean you will find it super easy if you have never built one before. This is where choosing a good WordPress theme comes in. I recommend themes by Athemes. A lot of building a site within an Athemes product is pretty self-explanatory. Based upon The Law of Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy, it will get faster and easier as you go through it several times. Additionally, Athemes provides us with a Knowledge Base, Quickstart Guides and Youtube tutorials. Once you get a few hours of playing around with it under you belt, you will feel like an old pro when it comes to doing something with your site. Most questions you run into as you are building your site out can be answered with a quick Google search.
That being said, sometimes we come across something we want or need done that is just clearly outside of our wheelhouse. Do not fret! I usually hire someone on Fiverr or Upwork and have it done professionally at a fraction of the time it would have taken me to muddle through it. I can be a bit stubborn from time to time. I have had things I wanted to do on my site that stole hours upon hours that I could and should have been using to hit that publish button instead.
When I get to those points nowadays, Jenn Yarnold over at Heartland Logic in Wichita, Kansas is my go-to-girl. Jenn is absolutely awesome! She has forgotten more than I will ever know about website intricacies. Jenn is very attentive, good, fast and above all else, honest and sincere too. She isn’t cheap but you get what you pay for. I highly recommend her! Tell her Grant over at Advance Dynamix sent you.
The Law of Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy and The Bottom Line
The bottom line is I want to make this journey as easy for you as I possibly can. Yes, it’s going to take a lot of work but it doesn’t have to be difficult work. Many get really excited about building a website around a topic they love. Then, they see it is really going to be a shitload of work and they throw in the towel like they something better waiting in the wings. They don’t. At least a high percentage of them don’t. This is an absolutely fantastic opportunity but you have to muster your tenacity or else it will get the best of you.
When I was a kid, my mom used to say, “Work smart, not hard.” Today, I say, “In addition to working hard, work smart too.” There’s nothing wrong with working hard (and, playing hard too, for that matter) but there’s a lot to be said for working smart and using the free tools that are out there for us too. It shouldn’t be any harder than it absolutely has to be. Peter Drucker said, “There is nothing so useless as doing efficiently that which should not be done at all.”
